TNC has been carrying out forest restoration with native species since 2001. TNC’s forest restoration projects are scientifically based and take place in conjunction with TNC’s sustainable agriculture and water security strategies.

We use different techniques available in the field, and, for planning, we created a methodology called the Strategic Forest Restoration Plan (PERF), which proposes actions to strengthen the restoration chain in Brazil.

We carry out projects in 10 Brazilian states in partnership with state, municipal, and federal governments, the private sector, other NGOs, and rural associations. Our results in the number of trees and hectares restored are accounted for by TNC’s direct actions in the field and by indirect activities carried out by partners with whom we have cooperation agreements.
